The South & Central Lakes contains many areas worth visiting, including many picturesque lakes and views and the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. Nowhere else will you find nature and culture so close together, with the natural beauty and the heritage of being the home of  Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The south lakes also contains the towns of  Kendal, famous for its mint cake and castle to Bowness-in-Windermere with a multitude of gift shops and leisure activities on offer.
