This guide will hopefully introduce the new visitor to the wonders of the Lake District and all its natural splendours. As the map suggests the lake district is situated in the north-west of England and is commonly seen as being one of the most naturally beautiful areas of the UK.

For the first time visitor it may appear that the whole area on the map is the Lake District, well in actual fact it is not. The highlighted area is in fact the county of Cumbria.   

The Lake District Peninsula is steeped in heritage. Contained within this area are such attractions as the award winning "Aquarium of the Lakes" which houses the largest collection of freshwater fish in the UK                                    go to page 2
